She was a reporter for The Washington Post nearly a decade and covered Grand Slam Tennis and Grand Slam Football, as as basketball at multiple Olympics. Nichols began her career at ESPN from 2004. She worked for nearly nine years with the company, winning 2 Emmy Awards. She also featured on the most watched programs on ESPN such as SportsCenter and NFL Countdown. Nichols was also a part of the network's Monday Night Football broadcasts as reporter on the sidelines. Her next assignment was CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded, a show that she created and hosted airs each one week at CNN International. More than 1 billion people saw it on the air worldwide. Nichols was also a reporter for TNT in NBA broadcasts during the playoffs and broadcasts for the All-Star game. The reporter also reported on golf, baseball and Final Four broadcasts for CBS and TBS. This was the second occasion in the 42-year history of TBS that a women had been chosen from over 200 nominations.
